Last weekend wasn’t rich in victories and podiums but certainly interesting for the continued growth of young Airohriders engaged both in the WSBK and in the CEV.
On the MWC Marco Simoncelli in Misano, Andrea Locatelli hit the Top10 in the three Superbike races to confirm the constant growth in saddle of official Yamaha R1; as a little note, the defending Champion of the WSSP, at the home GP, he showed off a helmet with a dedicated graphics.
Andrea Locatelli: ”We improved a little bit today but in the end I am not really happy because I lost too much grip on full lean angle, I tried to stay with Bassani and Bautista in Race 2 but it was not possible. In general, we improved during the weekend but maybe we lost too much time on Friday and we could not understand the best way to improve. But we will see now we have two days of testing in Navarra to learn the new track and also continue to work for the next races. For sure, we will not stop and make sure that we arrive ready for the next round of the championship. Toprak’s win was very nice! I am really happy for him, he’s a very nice guy and he works a lot for it and it is a fantastic result for the team.”
Manuel Gonzalez also did well, in his first season riding the Yamaha R6, both Saturday and Sunday he fought for a step of the podium, finishing race1 in fifth position and race2 in the fourth position; for him also the satisfaction in Race2 to score the fastest lap with a time of 1.38'637. Always in the 600 class, unlucky instead Maria Herrera that although very fast throughout the weekend, fell in both races, touched by an opponent in the first and due to a high-side in the second; the other Airohrider in the middle-class, Marc Alcoba, who closed Race2 in eighth place, is also continuously improving.
The Yamaha R3 Europen Cup also made its debut at Misano Adriatico and was immediately christened Airoh with Iker Garcia who won Race1.
From Spain, precisely from Barcelona, good news came from the CEV where Edoardo Edo Boggio in his third presence in the ETC, European Talent Cup, closed in the ninth position on the bike put on track by Aspar Team.
"I’m happy, it was a good race and we got the best result of the season - said Dodo -. The race was very difficult because in the first laps the first ones ran away and I had to fight in the group that followed them. In the middle of the race I touched with an opponent losing some positions but then I recovered but during the last lap they overcome me in several".
The other rider of the team from Valencia, David Alonso, came fourth in Race2 of Moto3. About the last one, it is worth remembering that already next week David will be back on track on the Sachsenring toboga to participate at the Red Bull Rookies Cup 2021 in which, currently, is second in the overall standings only three lengths from the leader.
