Marvin Musquin digs deep to come away with second-overall from the WW Ranch National

AMA Motocross - Round 7 - WW Ranch. Marvin Musquin had another strong day with a 3rd place in moto1 and moto2 for 2nd overall for the day. Marvin is current 3rd in the championship 30 points out.

Marvin Musquin: “I came into this race not very well, physically, from my crash in Millville last weekend and then I had another crash in the second practice, so I went out there in not-so-great of shape but I gave my best and I’m happy with how I rode and my consistency. It’s a bummer that I lost 10 points on Zach [Osborne] in the championship but he was stronger than me today. I did what I could, so I’m happy to still be up on the podium.”

In the 250 class RJ Hampshire while running 2nd in moto1, with 3 laps to go had a big get off bailing from his bike on the biggest jump on the track. RJ would not be able to continue due to major damage to his bike with a 35th. In moto2 a banged up Hampshire would finish 6th for 12th in the overall. Jalek Swoll coming off a shoulder injury from last weekend was running in 8th in moto1 when a late race crash relegated him to 17th. Jalek could not contest moto2 due to the shoulder injury for 20th for the day.

“Today was tough,” Hampshire said. “I was coming in injured [hip] and I didn’t ride all week so I tightened up in the first moto. I was able to put a late-race charge but I caught a rock off the biggest jump out there and it really scared me. I’m lucky enough to walk away with pretty much minor aches and pains but I’m sure I’ll be feeling it later. I salvaged what I could in the second moto and I’m ready to re-group and get back on the box next weekend.”
