Manuel Gonzalez continues to set records and after being the youngest rider ever on road World Champion, as well as that of the youngest poleman and also the youngest rider able to get on the podium in the middle-class of derivates bike, in Magny Cours last weekend he was also the youngest winner of a WorldSSP.
A track, the French one near Nevers, that must bring good luck to the rider from Madrid who always here, in 2019, won the WSSP300 World Title, the first for him and the third for the Airohriders after those of Julito Simon in 2009 and Nico Terol in 2011, both in 125GP.
In Race1 Manuel stroked the podium, reaching a breath, just 168/000 from Cluzel; with the points achieved at Magny Cours, and with five Grand Prix missing to the end of the season, Gonzalez stands in the sixth place with a gap to four points always from the French rider.
In the same Grand Prix, but about the WSBK, continues the great growth of Andrea Locatelli who collected another podium, now there are three, in the season of debut in the highest category. Locatelli finished third in the Saturday race behind teammate Toprak Razgatlıoğlu from Turkey, and defending World Champion Jonathan Rea from England.
Andrea Locatelli: “It was a fantastic race for me today, because I needed to push until the end because I have the pressure behind me. We are very fast during the weekend, I take a podium yesterday and stay every time in the top four, this is really good! Today it was not easy and it’s still my first time at this track compared to the other riders, but we work really well, don’t make a mistake and I think this is the recipe to make the good results. In Race 2, I did not see Michael after I overtake him in the last corner, I sensed something but I didn’t see when he touched me. We touch a little bit but this is the race and I am happy that everything is okay. Now we have a good level but we need to do something more to try to stay with the front group. It has been an excellent season so far, and I am now P4 in the championship which I never thought would be possible!”
In the WSSPP300 instead, it worth to underline the two splendid races of Yeray Ruiz who participated in the GP of France due to wild-card; the young Spanish rider, who started with 28th time in practice from the ninth row, after two wonderful comebacks he managed to fight in the leading group but while in Race 1 he was forced to retire on the penultimate lap due to a damage to his bike, in Race 2 he achieved the seventh place.
Changing the championship and moving to the UK, at the Snetterton 300 circuit where the fifth round of the BSB was scheduled, Kyle Smith won an excellent third place in the SSP600 race riding his Triumph, thus managing to consolidate the fourth position in the championship.
