Jerez WSBK test: Andrea Locatelli, well done

2020 SBK Jerez Test Locatelli

The day after the last seasonal grand prix, only after a couple of hours of training in the saddle of Yamaha R1 in Portugal, Andrea Locatelli closes the test season in Jerez De La Frontera, ahead riders with much more experience in SBK than he.

Seventy laps on the first day and as many as the second, real contact with the house of three tuning forks with which he will race the 2021 world championship.

The young Airoh rider, WSSP600 World champion, made a great job closing with a time below the wall of 1’40, precisely 1’39.877, achieving the sixth place.

“ I am very happy for how these test days in Jerez ended. – said Andrea – It is my first real contact with the R1, our feeling grows with every laps, but I need to work hard to understand it and to make the most of it. To drive it over the edge it’ll take some more time. The team is fantastic, everyone works hard and have the support of Yamaha is incredible. I am really happy to start this new adventure with them.”

An excellent start of this new adventure in the Queen class of series derivates, which will begin presumably next February.
