In Jerez the Airohriders don’t go beyond the fourth position

On the Angel Nieto track located just outside the city of Jerez de la Frontera, this weekend was held the GP de Espana, the fourth last round of the World Championship reserved to derived bike.

A tragic weekend in which was recorded the fatal accident in the WSSP300 class Race1 which saw the protagonist the young Spanish Deam Berta Vinales, cousin of Maverick current rider of Aprilia in MotoGP.

The results on the track have inevitably gone into the background; cancelled all the remaining races on Saturday, in the Sunday’races there are the double fourth positions of Andrea Locatelli in the Superbike and Manuel Gonzalez in the middleclass.

In the 300 class, Ruiz, Sabatucci and Ieraci have closed in the top15.

As regards the world rankings, in the WSBK championship, Locatelli is fourth along with Ruben Rinaldi at 227 as well as in the 600 Manuel Gonzalez who is only one point from the podium.

Andrea Locatelli: “So in the end it’s another good weekend for us, I’m a little bit frustrated because we lost the possibility for two podiums today but in the end we can be happy because when we arrived here on Friday it was not so easy for me to take a feeling with the bike. Then, yesterday we lost the opportunity to make a race but it was the correct decision to cancel the racing. Today we just missed the podium but we improved to become stronger and also faster during the race. I want to try and stay with the first group and in Race 1, we did not do so badly. In Race 2, I lose a little bit the feeling and I can’t stay with the front group but in any case, it’s a positive performance and for sure we will continue in this way. Now, my experience is coming better and we will see in Portimão, but I want to say thanks to the guys because we work very well and they make an amazing job. Most importantly, I want to say that I am so sorry to the friends and family of Dean Berta Viñales.”

Next race in five days when it will start the tests of the Portuguese Grand Prix at the Algarve track.
