David Alonso continues to amaze, the Airohrider won the RedBull MotoGP Rookies Cup

2021 Redbullrookiescup Aragon Alonso

David Alonso, 15-year-old Colombian Airohrider, is the new Redbull MotoGP Rookies Cup Champion, the single-brand moto that runs with the KTM and that represents the privileged entry door to the MotoGP World Championship.

On the Aragon Motorland track David finished both races in the third position but, thanks to the points achieved at the end of the Saturday race he won already the 2021 title. In the championship economy, Alonso’s score about ten podiums with six wins. Aragon is another success that adds to the victory in the 2018 CEV GP85 and last year’s ETC Championship.

"We did it. I’m very happy - these are the first words of David after winning the title -. This race was difficult, I was a bit nervous and it was difficult to control. It’s the result of a whole year’s work. I want to thank Team Aspar, my mechanic Javi Gallach, my family who was here in Aragon. We are gradually climbing the steps, last year we won the European Talent Cup, this year the Rookies Cup; we will continue to work to achieve other goals".

Always in Aragon Manuel Gonzalez took to the track riding the MV Agusta Moto2; Manuel replaced the injured Lorenzo Baldassarri and the race on Motorland represented for him the second presence in the middle-class world championship. For the rider from Madrid, back from the last week victory in the WSSP600 French GP, a thirtieth time in practice and a seventeenth time in the race, not far from the points area.

Moving to the BSB, on the Silverstone circuit, we would like to report the bad accident that saw Kyle Smith togheter with this official Triumph: the strong Airohrider fell due to a violent highside and remedied a fracture to the pelvic area that almost certainly will require surgery to ensure perfect recovery. Already from the next race, and presumably for the rest of the season, Kyle will be replaced by the other Airohrider Denny Webb currently engaged in WSSP600.

By the way a curiosity: this weekend on the Ricardo Tormo circuit of Valencia, Edoardoedo#31Savino, ten years and a lot of talent, made his debut at the Campeonato Comunitario Valenciano riding the Moto4 bike. Edo, who with Airoh has already won a couple of Italian and European minibikes titles, won Race1 while for a technical problem at the clutch had to retire on Sunday. Without a doubt, however, a great start!
