
The integral off-road AIROH helmets newly proved to be the great protagonists of the second race of Italian Enduro Championship, disputed on Saturday, August 1stand Sunday, August 2ndin Carsoli (AQ), a little town lying at the border between Abruzzo and Lazio, along the Piana del Cavaliere, at 600 metres height. Originally planned by the national agenda in the land of Franciacorta, the race has been perfectly organised by Moto Club Carsoli Enduro after the forced forfeiture of MC RS 77 of Passirano (BS) since it was impossible to guarantee the anti Covid-19 safety rules.
The way is 47 km long and has been repeated three times on Saturday and Sunday, for a total sum of 18 clocked races, on the two days, distributed as follows: Enduro Test of 6,000 metres, Extreme Test of 3,000 metres, Airoh Cross Test of 4,000 metres.
In the absolute classification, Airoh riders, Brad Freeman, Steve Holcombe and Thomas Oldrati shone out.
On Saturday, Oldrati (Honda-RedMoto) ended up with very positive third position, as Steve Holcombe (Beta) ended fifth and Brad Freeman (Beta) eighth despite a fall in the third Extreme Test race where he came down with a deep hurt of the left arm and successive hospitalisation and surgical intervention with ten stitches. The injury unfortunately prevented Freeman from getting underway on Sunday. The French Antoine Magain (Sherco) ended up eleventh, Manolo Morettini (KTM-Farioli) twelfth, Matteo Cavallo (Sherco) thirteenth, the New Zealander Hamish Mac Donald (Sherco) fourteenth.
On Sunday, Holcombe just missed the victory by a thread, for 1,81 from the best time, as Oldrati ended up third, Matteo Cavallo fourth, Antoine Magain ninth, Daniel McCanney (Honda-RedMoto) twelfth, Manolo Morettini thirteenth, Gianluca Martini (Beta) fifteenth.
The results in the classes: in 300 class, excellent new race of Rudy Moroni (KTM-Farioli) and Gianluca Martini (Beta), respectively second and sixth on Saturday, and third and second on Sunday.
In 450 4T class, Matteo Cavallo, after the second position on Saturday, got an immediate prompt revenge with a clear win on Sunday, so that he confirmed his leadership in the championship parade.
Junior class stood out for the splendid double victory of the young rider from Bergamo Manolo Morettini (KTM-Farioli) who got, thanks to the score he won, the third position in the championship parade, 9 points only from the top.
Next agonistic meeting for AIROH riders will be the first race in World EnduroGP Championship, planned from September 18thto September 20thin Requista, France, while the successive week Italy GP will be disputed in Spoleto.
