A magic onroad weekend for Airohriders!

Last weekend was incredible for Airohriders thank to wins and podiums achiwved by Andrea Locatelli, Kyle Smith and Iker Garcia.

The historic one won by Andrea Locatelli in Assen, on the stunning coners of the Cathedral of speed, on Sunday climbed the third step of the podium at the end of Race 2 of the Dutch Grand Prix, the fifth round of the WSBK World Championship. After ten laps in the lead, Andrea gave up first to the cannibal Jonathan Rea, six consecutive times Superbike World Championships, and then to Scott Redding; he was third also in the Superpole Race but the race direction penalized him by a position downgrading, with a very questionable decision, to the fourth place for having crossed the limit of the track during the last lap. For Loka#55, who is worth remembering is the defending World Champion of the WSSP600 class, today is the first podium in the Top Class of derivatives bike.

Andrea Locatelli: “I immediately forgot the situation from this morning because I had another chance to race today, and you still focus to get the maximum when you can do it. I’m really happy because we got the first podium, also to do it in the long race, it’s really an amazing feeling. In the short race, you need to push hard but also it’s a shame to make the tiny mistake with the track limits, it was only a few millimetres! Then in Race 2, I got the lead immediately and was able to keep a good pace but in the end I fought a lot with the softer rear tyre. With the conditions like today and yesterday with some sun, we can push in all sessions and I learned and improved every time – now we are faster and I was in front! We have been close to the front all weekend and I am so happy also for my crew. We work so well together, they work hard and we make no mistakes, and also the R1 is working so well. It’s nice to ride here in Assen and we have another chance very soon to continue in this way and try to get some more podiums!”

Always in Assen double podium, a victory and a second place, for Iker Garcia, a very young Spanish Airohrider engaged in the Yamaha R3 Blu Cru European Cup. Iker, with the points achieved today, has consolidated his leadership in the championship rankings.

At Brands Hatch instead, it was up to Kyle Smith to keep the honor of the Bergamo brand. At the end of the two races of the Supersport & British GP2 Championship inserted inside the BSB, Kyle has collected a beautiful victory in the first one and an excellent second place in the other one. Smith and his Triumph are now fifth in the ranking with a delay of 53 points from the leader, a gap largely recoverable since there are still sixteen races scheduled.
